United States works to provide artillery systems to Ukraine from US military stocks

According to information released by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the United States is preparing another package of military equipment and weapons for Ukraine totaling $750 million. According to information published by White House press secretary, Jen Psaki on April 12, 2022, United States is working to provide Ukraine with artillery systems from U.S. military stocks.

At the same time, the United States has announced the delivery of loitering munition to Ukraine. Regarding the U.S.-made Switchblade unmanned aerial systems, a significant number of them are now inside Ukraine for use by their forces, the U.S. official said. These UAS can carry explosives and have onboard cameras, videos, and sensors. The official noted that operating the Switchblade requires only about a day or two of training.

Most of the $800 million in U.S. arms have already been delivered to the Ukrainians, the official said. The Pentagon is also working on another $100 million for Javelin missiles.

In Europe, on April 9, 2022, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was in Kyiv to discuss the situation in Ukraine with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. The UK will continue the support Ukraine with a new €120 million including military equipment and weapons. On April 7, 2022

UK Defence Ministers hosted a Ukrainian government delegation to Salisbury Plain Training Area this week to consider their equipment requirements and options for further military support, as they continue their defence against Russia's unprovoked and illegal invasion.

Minister for Defence Procurement Jeremy Quin MP and Armed Forces Minister James Heappey MP were joined by Deputy Defence Minister Volodymyr Havrylov and senior Ukrainian military officers, who visited the UK on behalf of President Zelenskyy.

The UK has a deep and longstanding bilateral defense relationship with Ukraine and since 2015 has trained over 22,000 personnel as part of Operation Orbital and the UK-led Maritime Training Initiative. This training has included medical skills, logistics, countering improvised explosive devices (C-IED), leadership, planning, and infantry tactics.

The support was stepped-up in 2021 with the UK and Ukraine signing a bilateral treaty, which released £1.7bn of financing in support of the Ukrainian Naval Capabilities Enhancement Programme.

Since the Russian invasion, the UK has been leading efforts to coordinate international donations, hosting two donor conferences to encourage further donations and support their delivery, as well as running the International Donor Coordination Centre in Stuttgart to ensure the international community's military aid to Ukraine is as coordinated and effective as possible.

Ну а то что на море творится я думаю ты из окна видишь и примерно прикидываешь свою лужу на черное море? Так отож. Там конечно к нему сейчас кинулись пять каких то лоханок. Но как в такую погоду больше 500 рыл экипажу снимать я думаю они и сами понимают что все через жопу будет.

Поэтому на утро я с оптимизмом жду новостей. Та и с ракетными атаками сегодня как то тихо. Интересно почему? Без воздушных тревог так подозрительно тихо, что спать не могу.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy requests South Korea to provide tanks and armored vehicles

On April 11, 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy requested South Korea to provide military equipment and weapons in the fight against the Russian troops in Ukraine. South Korea's armed forces operate Russian-made T-80U MBTs (Main Battle Tanks) and BMP-3 tracked armored IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicles) which can be used by Ukrainian soldiers without specific training.

South Korea has already donated non-lethal equipment to Ukraine, such as helmets, blankets, combat rations, and medical kits. The Ukrainian government has officially requested lethal equipment and weapons from South Korea, but so far the Korean government has not responded positively to Ukraine's request.

During a video conference that was held on Monday, April 11, 2022, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said his country needed more help, including weapons, if it is to survive the war. Citing Zelenskyy, South Korea has armored vehicles, anti-aircraft, anti-tank, and anti-ship weapons that can be very useful for Ukraine in its fight against Russian armed forces deployed in Ukraine.

In fact, according to the military balance 2021, South Korea has Russian-made T-80U main battle tanks and BMP-3 tracked armored IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicles) that could be transferred to Ukraine from the current South Korean inventory without reducing the combat readiness of the South Korean armed forces.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute`s (SIPRI) arms transfers database, Russia delivered to the Republic of Korea 43 T-80U MBTs and 67 BMP-3 IFVs in 1995-2006. In 2016, Russia has requested South Korea to regain T-80U main battle tanks (MBT) and BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) supplied to the Republic of Korea.

On April 5, 2022, Army Recognition reported that the United States has asked the Cyprus government if it would be possible to transfer Russian-made weapons and combat vehicles in services with the Cyprus armed forces including TOR-M1 and S-300 air defense missile systems, T-80U main battle tank, BMP-3 tracked armored IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and Mi-35 attack helicopter.

The T-80U is an improved version of the Soviet-made T-80 MBT (Main Battle Tank) equipped with a modernized turret, Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armor, improved gun sight, and 9M119 Svir missile system.

The main armament of the T-80U consists of one a 125mm 2A46M-1 automatic smoothbore gun with a thermal sleeve, which can fire between 6 and 8 rounds per minute. The tank is equipped is fitted with an automatic loading system with 28 rounds ready to fire. A total of 45 rounds of 125mm caliber are carried into the tank. The main gun can fire the 9M119 Refleks (US/NATO designation AT-11 `Sniper') semi-automatic laser beam-riding missile out to a maximum range of 5,000 m.

The BMP-3 is a Russian-made tracked amphibious infantry fighting vehicle, a successor to the BMP-1 and BMP-2, which entered service with the Soviet army in 1990. The main armament of the BMP-3 consists of one 100mm 2A70 semi-automatic rifled gun/missile launcher, which is stabilized in two axes and can fire either 3UOF HE-FRAG rounds or 3UBK10 anti-tank guided missiles.

-- 500 «Джавелинов» и тысячи других систем для бронетехники;

-- 11 вертолетов Ми-17;

-- беспилотные катера береговой обороны;

-- защитное оборудование на случай атак с применением химического, биологического, радиологического, ядерного оружия;

-- медицинское оборудование;

-- 30 тысяч комплектов брони и шлемов для военных;

-- более двух тысяч оптических приборов и лазерных дальномеров;

-- взрывчатку С-4 и оборудование для разрушения препятствий;

-- противопехотные мины M18А1 Claymore.

The Wall Street Journal пишет, что на этот раз Белый дом передаст Украине более тяжелое вооружение, чем раньше. Также, по информации газеты, администрация Байдена поделится с Киевом разведданными, которые помогут украинской армии противостоять российским военным частям, дислоцированным на Донбассе и в Крыму.
